plotterLens

plotterLens turns your phone's camera into a pen-plotter sketchbook. Point it at something and watch it redraw the scene as plotter line art, live: waves, spirals, contours, cross-hatching, etchings and more. When you like what you see, save it as an SVG that's ready to plot on a terraPen or any other pen plotter.

Plotted for real

How it works

  1. Open it on your phone and tap the shutter to start the camera.
  2. Swipe through the styles. Each thumbnail previews that style on your picture, and the plot updates as you move the phone.
  3. Tap the shutter to freeze the frame, then fine-tune by dragging on the picture: left and right for more or fewer lines, up and down for contrast.
  4. Save it to the gallery and download the SVG, sized in millimetres for the paper you chose.

What it does

  • Twenty drawing styles, including Waves, Spiral, Contour, Flow, Hatch, Engrave, Etch, Loop, Snowflake, Voronoi and Ridges
  • Up to four pens. Split a plot by layer, by gradient or by area of the picture, with each pen on its own SVG layer so your plotter software can pause for a pen change. You can also save each pen as its own file.
  • Focal point. Long-press to drop a point that the style pulls towards or pushes away from.
  • Portrait, landscape or square paper, with live line length and line count
  • A gallery on your phone that keeps each plot's SVG, the photo it came from and its settings, so you can come back and re-edit
  • No camera? Load a photo from your gallery instead.

Private by design

Everything happens on your phone. Your camera feed and photos are never uploaded, and saved plots stay on your device until you choose to download or share them.

Install it like an app

plotterLens is a web app, so it installs straight from the browser with no app store:

  • iPhone / iPad (Safari): tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
  • Android (Chrome): tap Install when prompted, or use Install in the app's settings.

Once it's installed, it opens full screen, works offline and keeps your settings. Updates arrive automatically.

From phone to paper

Open the SVG in terraForge, our free plotting app, to place it on the bed, generate G-code and send it to the machine. It also works with any other plotter software that reads SVG.
